Bute vs Pavlik Also Being Considered, Says Jean Bedard

By Chris LaBate

Jean Bedard, President on InterBox, said former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik is also in the running to fight IBF super middleweight champ Lucian Bute. Pavlik is back against Alfonso Lopez on the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley undercard on May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The other high profile option for Bute, is obviously Mikkel Kessler, who sat ringisde at the Bell Centre in Montreal to watch Bute retain his belt with a tenth round TKO of Brian Magee.

"We are looking at our opportunities and we'll meet Monday to discuss everything. Kessler and Pavlik are actually in our discussions. Certainly there are exciting things to come," Bedard said. "We've already had interesting discussions and now more doors have opened, which include Kessler and Kelly Pavlik."

Pavlik is a very dangerous fight for Bute. He keeps his hands up, comes forward, and throws straight punches with a lot of power. He doesnt back off, he is a physical beast. Librado Andrade had Bute out in there…

Pavlik? Maybe. Kessler? Maybe. But if Gennady Golovkin showed up in Montreal looking for him, Bute would panic, fly back to Romania and hide up Dracula's bum hole.
