Joseph Laryea has promised Ricky Burns a beating he'll never forget when they clash for the WBO World Super-Featherweight title next month.
Laryea has sparred up to 20 rounds at a time in the searing heat of Accra, Ghana, in a bid to get in shape for the fight at the Braehead Arena, Glasgow.
And he says that Burns is in for an equally uncomfortable experience on March 12.
"Burns says he is enjoying being a world champion, but I won't be enjoying himself when he faces me," said Laryea.
"I plan on giving him an old fashioned beating.
"It will be like man against boy.
"He'll want to forget it, but the pain I will hand out to him will be seared on his mind for the rest of his life.
"I told everyone that I would gut him like a pig when this fight was announced, I just hope he doesn't squeal like one when I get down to business.
"I was may be at 50% of my potential when I destroyed Paul Appleby's last December.
"I'd not had the best training camp, but this time around I will make sure I am in the best shape ever.
"I've been sparring welterweights and light-middleweights to make sure I am at my very strongest.
"Ricky is going to be in a lot of trouble, and I'm looking forward to wiping the smile off his face and embarrassing him in front of all his fans.
"They better come out in force because it's the last they are going to see of their man for a while.
"First I'll break him mentally, then I'll break him physically and take away that world title. He will be begging for mercy by the end."
