Burns vs Crolla Falls Through, Terms Were Not Reached

By Terence Dooley

Ricky Burns is still searching for an opponent for his March 10th WBO interim lightweight title defence at Glasgow's Braehead arena after failing to agree terms with British lightweight title holder Anthony Crolla - Frank Warren Promotions confirming to BoxingScene.com that 'Million Dollar' was in the running but will not be in the other corner come March.

Burns, 33-2 (9), won the belt courtesy of an emphatic decision win over Michael Katsidis on Bonfire Night.  The Scottish titlist now faces a wait for news of the opponent for his maiden defence yet will be confident of opening his 2012 account with a W regardless of who is in the other corner.

Crolla has had a stirring 2011, winning the British title against John Watson in February and defending the belt in November, with a trip to Vegas to appear on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather's destruction of Victor Ortiz sandwiched between the two, he also posted a single session stoppage of Herve De Luca in June and will be confident of netting more honours in 2012 despite missing out on the Burns bout for now.

Another crap opponent for Burns, who defended against nobodies at 130. His people ought to have more confidence in him than to put him in with a scrub like Crolla

Obviously Frank isnt going to let Ricky get his hands on the title, better off going down the European title route then.
