Contrary to reports in friday's Glasgow Evening Times, WBO interim lightweight titlist Ricky Burns has not inked a fight with British champion Anthony Crolla. Burns is due to fight at the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow on March 10th and Frank Warren's office have denied claims that a deal has been reached with Crolla, who is currently self-managed and has a promotional deal with Hatton Promotions.
Burns, 33-2 (9), is still seeking an opponent for the maiden defence of the belt he won courtesy of a decision win over Michael Katsidis. Crolla has been involved in talks but as of today the two parties have not reached a deal and 'Rickster' is exploring other options, although there is every chance that the Burns-Crolla negotiations could be revived down the line.
BoxingScene will post confirmation as soon as Ricky's opponent is announced.
