Burns-Broner Talks Were Productive, Says Frank Warren

By Chris LaBate

Earlier this week, promoter Frank Warren had a meeting in London with Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer. The Golden Boy exec is interested in matching his unbeaten super featherweight, Adrien Broner (21-0, 17KOs), against Warren's WBO's champion, Ricky Burns (32-2, 9KOs), on the tentative HBO televised date of November 5th.

Warren would have liked to have Burns return on October 8th at Kelvin Hall in Scotland, but that scenario is looking more and more less likely. However, Burns is still pushing to get a fight with Mzonke Fana.

“We opened talks with Golden Boy and Richard Schaefer in London this week and these talks were productive, positive and will be ongoing. Obviously we want to make the best fight out there for Ricky and we know he has his heart set on a fight with Fana," Warren said to the Herald Times.

"But Golden Boy have Broner to look after and we respect that, and hopefully we will come to an arrangement that will keep both parties happy in the not-too-distant future. Broner is a bit of a knockout specialist, so you can’t underestimate him. But Ricky has proven against the best at 130-pounds that he is champion on merit.”

Fana or Broner would be good I think .If it was Fana and for the ring belt that Ricky want's it will probably still be a good scrap .Looking forward to seeing who's next for Burns .Burn's Martinez was a…

I think Broner would dominate him...probably would be too fast for Burns if Broner beats him...that would be a solid Resume already for a very YOUNG FIGHTER respect to Burns though, it seems like he WANTS to take his chances…

Check - KO power is not what keeps a fighter off someone. Many punchers have been backed up and beaten by lighter hitting guys. It is a great jab, timing, accuracy that works, otherwise harder hitters would always win. Ricky…

[QUOTE=Check;11014403]Never seen Burns fight but with that kayo ratio I'd imagine it be very hard to keep Broner off him. Broner is a good boxer himself, so I'd imagine that Burns isn't that skilled that he can out box him…
