Buglioni: Cleverly Quicker, Sharper Than Froch in Sparring

Top prospect Frank Buglioni has been racking up the rounds with WBO World Light-Heavyweight Champion Nathan Cleverly.

The unbeaten London ace is preparing for his ninth pro fight on the big Wembley Arena show on Saturday 20th July and wanted some top quality sparring in the build up.

And there isn't much better than the unbeaten Welsh star who is also hard in training for his explosive showdown with hammer-fisted Russian challenger Sergey Kovalev on Saturday 17th August at the Cardiff Motorpoint Arena.

Buglioni and Cleverly's fights are both live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546).

Buglioni, 24, is close to challenging for his first title and was delighted to get some valuable experience from sparring with a world champion who's had five defences under his belt.

"I did a good, hard, eight rounds with Nathan at his gym in Wales and it was probably the most beneficial eight rounds of sparring I have done so far in my career," Said Buglioni.

"It was great to go in with a world champion of Nathan's stature, seeing his sharpness, ring craft and his presence in the ring, it was a valuable learning experience,"

"I've sparred with Carl Froch before when I was in the GB amateur squad but Nathan was definitely quicker and sharper,"

"We went at a fast pace and the odd heavy shot went, but it was great for my confidence building and improving my all round skills,"

"In my view he's the best World champion in this country at the moment and that was probably because of the years he spent sparring with a great like Joe Calzaghe and a lot of that has rubbed off on him,"

"I'm hoping to get a crack at a title very soon in my next couple of fights so it's important that I win and stay on track on Saturday 20th July at Wembley Arena."

Tickets, priced at £40, £50, £70, £100 and £150 are available now from Eventim on 0844 249 1000 or www.eventim.co.uk and Wembley Arena on 0844 815 0815 or www.wembleyarena.co.uk ;

The show will be televised live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546).  Join at www.boxnation.com
@Yoz...yup, pretty blatant and definitely none too subtle from Warren. Use your young, upcoming prospect to hype another fight that really needs all the publicity it can get....oldest trick in the biz. I reckon Warren thinks he's got Joe Calzaghe…

Kovalev is going to "touch" Cleverly in the ring. lol. Not as catchy as Good boy.
LOL at Frank Warren's pathetic attempts to stir interest in Froch-Cleverly. Kovalev is going to wreck Nathan.
And I suppose Froch-Groves is a better fight? :lol1:
