Emperors Palace, Kempton Park, South Africa - WBO Hekkie Budler (20-1, 6KOs) easily retained his IBO strawweight title over inexperienced Shamile Kortman (7-1, 4KOs) with an eight round unanimous decision. Budler boxed his way to victory, while Kortman tried to make the contest a clinch-fest. The scores were 79-74, 78-74 and an unrealistic 79-78.
In a welterweight bout, former IBO champion and ex-top contender Isaac Hlatshwayo (30-4, 10KOs) was knocked out in two rounds by Bongo Lipembo (13-2, 10KOs). After a sluggish first round, a right hand put Isaac down in the second. He made it to his feet, but his poor physical state forced the stoppage.
