Brunker, Flores, McKenzie, Fields Win at Turning Stone
By Bill Emes
Turning Stone Resort & Casino, Verona, New York - Featherweight contender Joel Brunker (24-0, 14KOs) knocked out Carlos Fulegencio (19-9-1) in the first round with a wicked shot to body. The count of ten was reached at 1:40 of the first.
Welterweight prospect Javier Flores (8-0, 7KOs) went to war with Alberto Herrera (8-8-1, 5KOs) and had to muster up all of his reserve to win an eight round majority decision. The action was hot, give and take and fought in close quarters. The scores were 77-75 twice for Flores and 76-76.
Ryan McKenzie (11-0, 10KOs) outboxed Eric Watkins (7-3) for a six round unanimous decision in a light heavyweight contest. The scores were 58-56 and 59-55 twice.
Eric Fields (21-1, 15 KOs) dominated Kevin Franklin (4-5, 1 KO) in a six round heavyweight bout. The scorecards read 60-54 twice and 59-55.
Looks like Javier Flores lost. Anytime an unknown fighter with a bad record loses a majority decision to an unbeaten fighter, you know he won. It's an epidemic.Comment by Hougigo on 10-27-2012
Wasn't that where Golovkin/Proksa took place?
yurp, one and only time I went there. IMO, not worth going out ofyour way unless you live close, the fight is really really good or it's a fight you really want to watch.Comment by kiaba360 on 10-27-2012
