KELL BROOK is fuming that Amir Khan is being linked with a moneyspinning fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Brook insists his British rival does not deserve a world title shot and has been angered by speculation Khan is set to fight boxing's biggest star for his WBC welterweight title in May next year.
The Bolton boxer has yet to fight at welterweight but rather than facing Devon Alexander for the IBF light-welterweight title on December 7, his promoter is now trying to set up a scrap against flash Yank Mayweather.
While Khan waits to hear Mayweather's next move, Sheffield's unbeaten Brook can book himself his own world title shot if he beats Ukrainian Vyacheslav Senchenko in an IBF welterweight title eliminator on Saturday.
He said: "It annoys me when I hear Khan might be fighting Mayweather.
"That is because he's not ranked at welterweight, never boxed at welterweight and looked rubbish in his last fight.
"Khan is not what people make him out to be - and people who know boxing will tell you that.
"It's annoying that he could walk right over me and into a big fight like that because it makes business sense.
"But I've put the hard work in to get into the mandatory position for a shot and I've not been given any shortcuts.
"I've fought all the people I've been supposed to fight to get me a world title fight and it's been hard work.
"But I really think we've seen the best of Khan.
"He has peaked and his better years have gone past him."
Brook, 27, has been getting tips from former world lightwelterweight champ Ricky Hatton on how to beat his next opponent.
Senchenko, 36, crushed Hatton's comeback in nine rounds a year ago and Brook has vowed to exact revenge on behalf of The Hitman.
He added: "I've been in contact with Ricky and he's told me a few things about Senchenko, like his feints.
"He said I should always stick to my game plan.
"I'm going to get revenge for Ricky's loss and I also need to make a statement in this fight, to look special.
"I've only boxed once in a year because of injury and I went a bit stale so I need a good performance to propel me on to the world stage.
"This is the hardest opponent I have ever faced.
"We will see how good I am and whether I am good enough for a shot at the world title in the future."
