As BoxingScene.com reported earlier, Amir Khan (31-4, 19 KOs) will make his comeback on April 21 after signing a three-fight promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing.

The former unified light welterweight world champion has not fought since stepping up to middleweight to do battle with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in May 2016, but will resume his career almost two years later.

Former Olympic champion Khan, knocked out in the sixth round by Mexican Alvarez in Las Vegas, ended his feud with Eddie Hearn to join his stable after a spell in the jungle for reality television show 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here'.

Khan's opponent for his next bout at the Echo Arena in Liverpool has not yet been named, but Hearn said a "super fight" late this year is on the cards amid talks of a showdown with fellow Englishman Kell Brook.

Brook (36-2, 25 KOs), who plans to make his junior middleweight debut on March 3rd in Sheffield, with Sergey Rabchenko, wants no further excuses from Khan.

The Sheffield fighter may sit ringside at Khan's Matchroom debut, and says there could be a possibility of physically confronting Khan in the ring.

"We need to agree on a fight this year because I don't know if I will be boxing into next year, if I am honest," Brook told Sky Sports.

"I really do mean it. I am not getting any younger. I want a great year this year, no messing around, no play-time, I want big fights under my belt. I don't want to be talking this nonsense with Khan, him saying he wants it next year or whenever. It's got to happen pretty soon or I am done.

"I would just love to test myself against him. It will probably bring the best out of him and we will give something back to the fans for helping us throughout our careers. We have got the same promoter and that's it. Now he fights for Matchroom, finally we will see me and him in the ring.

"And it's very possible I will be ringside. He was in Sheffield for one of my fights, so I could well be there, now we're both Matchroom. The fireworks could start. I might turn up for that, I might even jump in the ring and lay a chocolate brownie on him. No strawberries... chocolate brownies only."
