Broner Says Fans Can Pick Opponent, But Not Mayweather

By Bill "Two Scoops" Emes

WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-0, 22KOs) has continued to state that he plans to have "the fans" pick his next opponent. On Saturday he captured his third divisional title with a twelve round split decision over Paulie Malignaggi.

"People are always saying that I pick and choose my opponents. I just fight whoever is put in front of me. So, I'll let the fans choose my next opponent. I'll fight anybody. I'll let the fans decide my next opponent. We'll see who they want me to fight," Broner told BoxingScene.com.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer told BoxingScene that he would be "on board" if Broner went forward with his plan to allow the fans select his next opponent.

While Broner says he will fight "anyone" the fans would select - he also said "I can't do that" and "negative" when pressed for an answer on whether he would face his idol, Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs), if the pound-for-pound king was selected by the fans.

Don't be foolish people... Matthysse is occupied with Garcia... Vote Maidana, Ortiz, even Khan... If Matthysse wins, he'll use his obligation to Garcia as an excuse than he'll cherry pick another opponent

Good idea to let fans choose your next fight. He should be commended for that. So what's the verdict? Who did fans pick?

Play safe first Broner, defend it against Provodnikov, because I had to agree with Maidana that he's gonna beat you before Matthysse will get his chance.

The fans already picked, they want Matthysse, unless Matthysse-Garcia gets signed of course. Second in line is Maidana, so it's either one or the other, all depending.

Adrien broner should try his luck with Matthyse or maidana if danny garcia ducks matthyse. i would love to see him get KTFO. lmao.:boxing:
