Broner: Guerrero is Easy Money For Floyd Mayweather Jr.

By Chris Robinson

The Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas is never short on colorful characters and brash lightweight champion Adrien Broner seems to fit right in with the hustle and bustle of one of boxing’s liveliest gyms.

It remains to be seen how long Broner will be hanging around, but he seems to enjoying himself while putting in a little bit of work and also watching his proclaimed ‘big brother’ Floyd Mayweather prepare for his May 4th match with Robert Guerrero at the nearby MGM Grand.

Broner made the first successful defense of his WBC belt this past month when he stopped a courageous Gavin Rees after the fifth round in their clash in Atlantic City. Broner dished out plenty of punishment yet Rees proved himself to be resilient in the face of an uphill battle against one of the sport’s more promising talents.

Asked how he felt just a few weeks removed from his most recent showcase, Broner took a moment to reflect.

“Tough titty but the milk’s still sweet,” Broner coined while flashing a grin.

So loaded is the junior welterweight division, that several fans and insiders have already begun to speculate on Broner’s impending rise into the weight class.

And while there are several mouth-watering fights that would await him, the Cincinnati native isn’t in any kind of rush.

“Everybody in such a hurry of me moving up and this is just my second fight at 135,” Broner pointed out. “I’m only 23. I’m still growing.”

Asked for his opinion on the Mayweather-Guerrero duel, Broner gave his friend Floyd the clear edge but wouldn’t elaborate too much.

“That’s easy money,” Broner said. “I’m not about to sit here and break down a fight. What’s already understood aint got to be explained.”

Asked why he looks up to Mayweather so much, Broner pointed towards Floyd’s tireless pursuit while in training after all his years atop boxing’s ladder.

“His work ethic,” stated Broner. “That’s why I work so hard. He inspires me. His work ethic is amazing. To be on top 17 years and still be hungry, it aint too many people who can do that.”

With many chapters of his own career still ahead of him, Broner isn’t selling himself short when discussing his personal aspirations.

“I want to be the greatest boxer to ever lace up a pair of boxing gloves,” said Broner.
Floyd is older now, his legs aren't what they once were, Guerrero won't be taken lightly. He's a tough cat but then again Guerrero is no Cotto. Floyd won't underestimate Guerrero but he should win comfortably.
Agreed!:boxing:
