The World Boxing Association's new Welterweight world champion Adrien Broner is the boxer of the month of June after defeating Paul Malignaggi in Brooklyn, New York. Broner defeated by decision Malignaggi on June 22, 2013.

The WBA Rating Committee announced the official June rankings last Thursday where they highlighted Broner as the new 147 lbs-world champion.

The honorable mention was for Gennady Golovkin who defeated Matthew Macklin by KO, on June 29, 2013 to retain his title.

In the ratings there are 36 North American contenders, including Broner. Besides, Japan and Mexico share the second place position with 23 boxers each.

Rurssia has 11 fighters and there are dozen British fighters in June.

Argentina, Venezuela and Cuba have 9 boxers each among champions or challengers waiting for their title shot, while Panama has 6 and Nicaragua 4.

Both guys were expected to win. But Broner barely managed it and looked pretty ordinary. GGG went beyond the expectations by doing it in such style his stock went through the roof, Broner's? ... meh I wouldn't pay to see him that's for sure.
