In a recent interview on BoxingScene.com, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum made it known that former four-division champion Adrien Broner (32-2, 24KOs) had "priced himself out" of a potential fall pay-per-view showdown against the un-retired Manny Pacquiao.
Top Rank had a hold on the Mandalay Bay Events Center on the date of October 15th for the potential return of Pacquiao, but that date may change to accommodate Pacquiao's political schedule back in the Philippines.
"That is correct (that Broner priced himself out). I was dealing with Al Haymon on making that fight. Al tried but Broner was asking for crazy money that nobody can afford so he is out and Manny is looking for another opponent," said Arum.
Broner was informed of Arum's comments and fired back on social media - stating that he wants to get paid what 'he deserves.'
"F*** Bob Arum. Pay me what I deserve bitch. You been trying to sign me anyway, lame," Broner shouted off to his followers.
Arum had previously told this writer that Pacquiao wanted to return but first had to see if his duties as a senator would allow him enough time to train properly for a fight. The Hall of Fame promoter says now that it isn't a question of if but when Pacquiao will return to the ring.
"He is going to fight. I don't know what the date is. He is working with the President of the Philippines senate for an appropriate date where he can leave the Philippines for two or three weeks to prepare for the fight.
"In any event he is going to have to do most of his preparation in the Philippines - you know after he sits in the senate - so it is going to be an interesting thing but definitely he is looking to come back and the question is how can we arrange it," Arum told BoxingScene.com.
