Brayd Smith is Hitting The Books Before The Ring

Promising Toowoomba professional boxer, “The Great White” Brayd Smith, this week was faced with the challenging Law assignment of going face to face with his friend in the courtroom at the USQ. Smith, who is a third year law student at USQ in Toowoomba, had the grueling task of prosecutor in a mock trial yesterday just 10 days before he steps into the ring for the biggest fight of his life.

Smith remarked yesterday, “It was another great experience for me to have under my belt.”

“This is something we’ve been working hard on for a few months now and is probably the biggest assignment I will have to do this year. It’s been challenging but I enjoyed the practical nature of it and it makes me excited to finish my degree.”

Smith who juggles his studies whilst building a professional boxing career which at this stage has been a perfect one, steps into the ring on October 19 for his fifth professional bout.

Brendon Smith, Brayd’s trainer/Manager said, “It’s been a big ask for Brayd, to study a degree as difficult as Law and to juggle it with a professional boxing career, he is handling it great and it’s a real credit to him and his desire to achieve.”

This fight against Thailand’s Phissanuthep Chaiyonggym, a fighter who has earned a reputation as a body shot specialist, will no doubt be Smith’s biggest test to date.

This fight will be the co main event of a 7 professional fight card on October 19 which includes:

• Featherweight - Jack Asis vs Maxsaisai Sithsaithong
• Featherweight - Brayd Smith vs Phissanuthep Chaiyonggym
• Heavyweight - Josh Robertson vs Phil Armstrong
• Junior welterweight - Jezze Carrasco vs Kyle Teer
• Super featherweight - Will Young vs Matt Sedan
• Welterweight - Chris George vs Luke Howlett
• Cruiserweight - Josh Webb vs Brett Peters

“Smithy Brings the big fights 2” will take place on October 19 at Rumours international in Toowoomba.
