The new WBA lightweight champion Brandon "Bam Bam" Rios (27-0, 20KOs) would like to unify his title with the WBA's super champion Juan Manuel Marquez (52-5, 38KOs). Rios knocked out the "regular" champion Miguel Acosta in ten rounds last Saturday in Las Vegas.
Marquez is technically now a free agent from Golden Boy Promotions, so the feud with Top Rank would not create a blockade on the fight. Of course it's not likely for Marquez to accept such a fight. Marquez has one goal, and one goal only, to get a third fight with current WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao.
"I've said it before that I would love to fight Juan Manuel Marquez. I would love to get that fight. I've always said that I want to fight the best. I'll leave it up to my promoter and my manager," Rios said.
