WBA 'regular' light heavyweight champion Juergen Braehmer of Germany would like to get a unification bout with WBC champion Adonis Stevenson of Canada.

Braehmer (48-2, 35KOs) was in action on Saturday night in Germany, when he defeated Eduard Gutknecht for a second time by a wide points decision over twelve rounds.

Stevenson (27-1, 22KOs) was last seen in September, when he knocked out Tommy Karpency in three rounds. He is expected back to the ring in June.

After crafting his career on German soil, Braehmer wants to make a name for himself in America.

"I'm looking to America. I want a fight [where the American audience] gets to know me, and then a unification fight against WBC champion Adonis Stevenson.

According to Braehmer's promoter, Kalle Sauerland of Sauerland Event, they failed to get Stevenson in the past after submitting an offer and receiving no response. They are now looking at a fight with former WBO champion Nathan Cleverly.

Braehmer was the WBO champion back in 2011 and was set to face Cleverly but the fight never happened. Braehmer withdrew with injury and was stripped of his belt, and then Cleverly was made the full champion. There were talks to have their fight at other points in the last few years. The two sides were never able to reach an agreement.

"We have already made an offer in the past to Stevenson. But unfortunately there was no answer. A fight against former world champion Nathan Cleverly of Wales is under discussion," Sauerland said.
