The World Boxing Organization has rejected the idea of ordering an immediate rematch of last month's welterweight fight  between Timothy Bradley and Jessie Vargas.

The fight took place on June 27th at the StubHub Center in Carson and saw Bradley win a twelve round unanimous decision to capture the WBO's interim-welterweight championship.

The ending was marred by controversy, after Vargas clipped Bradley on the chin in the final minute and had him in serious trouble. As Vargas was pressing to finish him off, referee Pat Russell got confused after hearing the ten-second signal and stopped the fight with around eight seconds left in the round.

Vargas and his camp cried foul, claiming the referee robbed them of a potential knockout win.

The California State Athletic Commission is also standing their ground and have no plans to reverse the official decision. Vargas was attempting to change the outcome to a no-contest.

That being said, Bradley is likely going to be upgraded to "full champion" status after Floyd Mayweather Jr. failed to meet the WBO's deadline on Friday to advise the sanctioning body if he intends to keep their world title that he captured from Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd.
