Unbeaten super bantamweight Jesse Magdaleno will fight on March 16th at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA, Boxingscene.com was advised by Top Rank matchmaker Brad Goodman on Monday night.
Magdaleno was scheduled to fight Leivi Brea in a scheduled eight round bout at the C. Robert Lee Center in Hawaiian Gardens, CA this Saturday night.
However, Top Rank decided to move Magdaleno to the non-televised undercard on March 16th. Headlining the Top Rank card in Carson will be Timothy Bradley fighting Ruslan Provodnikov.
Bradley-Provodnikov will be televised live on HBO.
Magdaleno’s fight may have been moved due to UniMas (formerly Telefutura) usually televising scheduled 10 round main event bouts along with a six round co-feature during its 90-minute broadcasts. It would probably be difficult for UniMas to televise both Magdaleno’s bout against Brea, along with the 10 round main event bout between Chris Avalos and Jose Luis Araiza, during that time slot without having to rush in between bouts.
In place of Magdaleno-Brea, UniMas will likely televise the scheduled six round welterweight bout between Michael Finney and Jesus Vallejo, along with Avalos-Araiza.
No word yet if Magdaleno will stay face Brea or if he will face another opponent. Top Rank will likely televise the Magdaleno bout live on its website that afternoon.
Magdaleno (13-0, 9 KOs), who hails from Las Vegas along with his older brother Diego, is coming off a one-sided eight round unanimous decision over Jonathan Arellano on December 6th.
UniMas will televise Saturday’s Top Rank card at 11:30 PM ET/PT.
