Timothy Bradley held a media workout yesterday at the Fortune Gym in Hollywood, CA as he prepares to defend his WBO Welterweight title for the first time against Ruslan Provodnikov on March 16th live on HBO. Bradley was very personable with the media as he talked about a variety of topics as he worked out.
One of the topics of discussion was current IBF Junior Welterweight champion Lamont Peterson who just put on a dominant performance as he stopped Kendall Holt in 8 rounds this past Friday. Bradley shared how impressed he was with Lamont to the media in attendance.
“You guys seen that Lamont [Peterson] fight? He looked vicious huh? Lamont looked vicious, he looked good” said Bradley with a smile.
Peterson is already being slated to face feared interim WBC Junior Welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse May 18th though nothing has been finalized or confirmed. Not only does Bradley believe Peterson will beat Matthysse if they fight, he gave Peterson the highest of compliments by declaring him the best fighter at 140 pounds.
“Man when that fight happens I'm coming to take all ya'll money. I'm going to take all ya'll money. [Lamont has] guts and heart. The kid will find a way to win. And I fought him. The dude don't give up. Mathysse doesn't have the boxing ability to outbox Lamont. At all. I promise you. No way. Lamont right now is the best 140 pounder in the world. He beats everybody. Even Danny [Garcia]. Lamont beats all of them. He got a chin on him and everything. Take that to the bank. Lamont is beating all of them” declared Bradley.
Bradley holds a win over Peterson but turned down a rematch with him late last year. Bradley confirmed he plans to stay at 147 but would consider moving down to 140 for the right fight.
