Bradley: Pacquiao's Team Wants To Get Rid of Me Early

By Ryan Burton

We welcomed Tim Bradley to the most recent edition of The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene.com's official audio show.  You can hear the entire interview by clicking  http://tobtr.com/s/2997117.  Bradley faces WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao on June 9th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

One of the key components that Bradley will have to deal with is Pacquiao's power.  The Filipino is known for his deadly combination of speed and power.  I asked Bradley if he wants to feel his opponent's power early on so that he will know exactly what he is up against.

"Hell yeah, I definitely do. I get in the ring with a lot of people who say they can punch. I get hit with a big shot flush in the chin and I'm like 'that's it'?" Stated Bradley.  He also said that if he is able to take Pacquiao's power early that the pound for pound champion will be in for a long night.  "If he can't rattle me its going to be one hell of a fight. If its nothing too crazy then it's one hell of a fight. I think I will make an adjustment."

Bradley thinks that Pacquiao's team wants their fighter to go for the kill early and that they are weary of the fight going into the late rounds.  The Palm Springs, CA native said that he gets stronger as the fight goes on and that Pacquiao will do everything he can to end the fight early.

"They don't want this fight to go past 5 or 6. The other side wants me to get me out of there early because I get more dangerous as the fight goes on," Bradley explained.  "They want to come out blazing and get me in a slug fest. They want me to go out wide and for Pacquiao to catch me in between and hurt me and finish me off.  I turn it up after 6 rds when most fighters start to fade," he continued.

The undefeated Bradley admitted that he has looked ahead and thought about what he will feel should he leave the ring victorious.  He also said that that he will be one of the next big stars of boxing.

"I play it out in my head. That's all we do in training camp. 'The new and still undefeated.'  A lot of people don't know how bad I want this.  I want this for my family and my fans. I think its a new era. I want to prove to the fans that I am the best," Bradley concluded.

correct me if im wrong, but isn't bradley a high volume punching, super aggressive infighter? and isn't that tailor made for pacquiao? if thats the case, then i can't see pacquiao losing this fight, prolly by a wide decision, and…

I got the feeling Bradley will be in tremendous shape for the fight and will probably want to play very rough and be very aggressive, likely to use his head. As long as Pac can avoid that basketball, and execute…
Didn't they say the same thing about Marquez and we know how that went...
So now Marquez and Bradley fight the same style?

Bradley's saying all the right things in this interview. He basically admitted that the weaknesses that I thought he would have are the same weaknesses he acknowledges and so does Team Pac. It sounds like he won't be fighting like…
