BoxNation will undergo a High Definition makeover.

BoxNation’s chairman Richard Brooke confirmed the news at a press conference earlier today.

In other BoxNation news, the channel has welcomed Hatton Promotions, Barry McGuigan’s Cyclone Promotions and Frank Maloney into the fold. The inclusion of the aforementioned promoters will help make cross-promotional contests such as David Price versus Dereck Chisora and Billy Joe Saunders against Martin Murray real possibilities over the course of the coming years.

The station has also continued its commitment to overseas fights by picking up Floyd Mayweather’s showdown with Saul Alvarez on September 14th.

Ricky Hatton’s promotional outfit has been without a TV network since Sky’s decision to hand all their dates to Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Sport.  This latest move means that Hatton will be reunited with his former promoter Frank Warren, who guided him to the light-welterweight world title in 2005 before parting company with the “Hitman” in the aftermath of Hatton’s title win over Kostya Tszyu.

Today’s news of HD programming on BoxNation and Hatton’s involvement with the network is a source of great interest for boxing fans, especially those who love the crispness of HD TV.  The announcements mean that the channel, which was written off before it even launched in some quarters, is set for a bold new dawn — and all in stunning High Definition.
