Heavyweight Victor Bisbal (18-1, 13KOs) will be active on April 16 on the undercard headlined by Juan Manuel Lopez in the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum, and his opponent will be Willie Herring, the same boxer who mananged to last eight rounds with Carlos Negron. Lopez faces Orlando Salido in the main event.
"From what I understand, I'm going to fight with Herring. I hope that 2011 will be a good year for me and that I'll get to fight for a regional title this year," he said.
Bisbal's coach at the Olympic Village, Salinas, is his lifelong mentor and Professor of Physical Education, Orlando Rodriguez, who filed for retirement after a successful career as a teacher.
"I have that work by Orlando and Jose Luis Fleece. With my knowledge and experience in both the amateurs and the professional ranks, we are there working. He is are full-time coach and just missing the official appointment," he added.
