Binkow Officially No Longer With Golden Boy Promotions

By Rick Reeno

Bruce Binkow has confirmed to BoxingScene.com that he is no longer with Golden Boy Promotions. Binkow joined Golden Boy in 2007 as Chief Marketing Officer and became the Chief Operating Officer in 2013.

Binkow is the second major departure from the company this month. On June 2nd, company CEO Richard Schaefer officially announced that he was leaving Golden Boy after ten years of employment.

Beyond the confirmation of his departure, Binkow would not discuss the details which led to his break from Golden Boy.

Schaefer and company President Oscar De La Hoya parted ways after internally, and publicly, disagreeing over Golden Boy's direction. To date, no replacement has been named for Schaefer. While Binkow was viewed by some as a Schaefer-loyalist, the details regarding his departure are far from clear.

GBP will soon be like a parking lot with no cars in it. Oscar doesn't know jack about running a company and that's why Richard was in charge. All this crap about not knowing who is signed under GBP is…
Glorified legalized street brawling to destroy boxing? Nah, don't think so. Perhaps if UFC fighters ACTUALLY get paid what they're worth and MMA is no longer monopolized by Dana White, we just might be able to entertain that thought.
I…
