Billy Morgan is Ready For Much Bigger Things in 2013

Undefeated professional boxer, Billy Morgan from Canning Town is looking ahead to 2013 with big plans.

The 22 year old lightweight is eyeing the chance to fight for a title after a fairly quiet year in 2012 with only two appearances in the ring in February and September.

“Hopefully 2013 will be a productive year for me. I’m hoping to stay active and fight at least five times, I’ll assess where I am half way through the year with my team and hopefully if we all agree the time’s right then make the step up to championship level. As I’ve said before I’m still only 22, a baby in professional boxing so I’m happy just to be active and notching the wins up on my record.”

Although due to fight on 1stNovember at the home of boxing, York Hall, the venue for each one of the previous seven fights, an illness forced Billy to withdraw.

The main event that evening saw Frankie Gavin conquering an in-form Junior Witter to be crowned the new British Welterweight Champion.

The disappointment of not fighting has only fuelled the likeable lightweight to get back into the ring sooner and more frequently.

“I’m looking at being ready to fight in late January. Nothing been mentioned to me yet but when I withdrew from the November fight I was told I’d be out in January. So training camp will be starting soon and hopefully good news will follow.”

The exciting prospect has already fought in his first 8 round contest when he comfortably beat experienced journeyman Youssef Al Hamidi at the York Hall in London last September.

The East end star has not only won all of his seven fights but has actually won all 34 of the rounds boxed. Positive statistics like this are beginning to attract potential sponsors and the talented Londoner is looking for the right partnership to propel his career to the next level.

“I’m looking for a sponsorship to help pay towards my training, nutritional supplements and to generally take some weight off my shoulders financially, so I can fully focus on training and winning my next fight.”

Billy has already begun to plan his campaign for 2013 with a training camp in the TKO Gym in Tenerife as he tweeted recently: “Little training camp in Spain in jan to get the Ball rolling for a Big year ahead!! #TeamMorgan taking over…”
