Berto vs Ortiz: Catch-Weight Request is Still an Issue

Discussions continue for a possible match between WBC welterweight titlist Andre Berto (27-0, 21KOs) and junior welterweight contender Victor Ortiz (28-2-2, 22 KOs).  Berto vs. Ortiz would take place on April 16 as part of an HBO televised split-site doubleheader, with WBA junior welterweight king Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KOs) appearing in the co-headliner from the MEN Arena in Manchester.

While the financials terms have yet to be finalized, BoxingScene.com has been advised that Ortiz's request for a catch-weight is still the main issue at hand. Ortiz's management had made a request for a catch-weight of 143-pounds. I've been told Ortiz is willing to budge by a pound or two in Berto's direction, but the champion is still standing his ground on the fight being held at the full welterweight limit of 147-pounds.
ortiz should fight berto or alexander, and berto should fight ortiz or cintron... a double header between alexander/ortiz and bradley/khan would be great, but i dont think those two will wanna fight so soon, so hopefully khan finds a worthy opponent...
You might laugh,...

Ortiz doesn't deserve a shot, either of the euros would be more deserving than ortiz.Aydin looks and sounds like he is dying for that Berto matchup, have to see if that goes o a purse bid.senchenko shouldn't be scared to come over to the US and fight berto.Zaveck should be also in he running but ...

Berto never wanted to fight a WW anyway so might as well go for the catchweight below WW limit

if ortiz doesnt want to fight at 147 then just stay at 140,berto doesn't have to come down, ortiz can rematch maidana, ask for alexander or bradley,if bradley can't get a big name in his next fight, ortiz would be good i think
