Sources have advised BoxingScene.com that there is interest in staging a fight between former two division champion Bernard Hopkins (55-7-2, 32KOs) and IBF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24KOs).

Hopkins, now 50-years-young, is very interested in fighting again. From what BoxingScene was told, the legal tussle between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and promotional firm Top Rank is a major stumbling block in making a deal with Froch for a Las Vegas fight.

Froch is threatening to retire if he's not able to fulfill his dream of fighting in the main event of a major Las Vegas card. Hopkins is certainly an opponent who provides a promotable storyline.

Hopkins unified world titles at middleweight and light heavyweight, but never captured a belt in the super middleweight division, as he jumped n weight from 160 to 175. A fight with Froch would give him the opportunity to close the final chapter of his career as three division champion.
