BoxingScene.com caught up with former WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew shortly after Floyd Mayweather stopped UFC star Conor McGregor in 10 rounds at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The super bout is expected to become the highest or second highest grossing fight of all time. At the moment the contest is trending to generate over 4 million pay-per-views buys - threatening the all-time record set by Mayweather's fight with Manny Pacquiao in May of 2015.
The success of Mayweather-McGregor has also led to speculation that other crossover fights between boxers and mixed martial artists may take place in the future.
Prior to the Mayweather-McGregor fight, Bellew told Sky Sports that he wanted a crack at UFC middleweight champion (185 pounds) Michael Bisping who responded on social media that he would have no problem facing Bellew in a boxing match after his scheduled fight versus George St-Pierre.
Bellew cleared up the matter while speaking with us and said that he would actually want the fight to happen in the octagon.
According to Bellew, he would demolish Bisping in the ring and the fight would be more competitive if they slugged it out under MMA rules.
"Mate, it would go as fast as I wanted it to go (in a boxing ring). I would go in the cage. Listen, I wouldn't want to do it in a boxing ring because it would be embarrassing. That is what it would be. I would embarrass him in a boxing ring. I would literally just toy with him. I will be honest - I am vicious, horrible and nasty when I am in a boxing ring and I would literally just put him to sleep. It would be worse than any highlight reel knockout you have ever seen," Bellew told BoxingScene.com.
