Bailey: I've Always Wanted To Fight Devon Alexander

Newly crowned IBF welterweight champion Randall Bailey appeared on the latest edition of The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene's official audio show.  Bailey's brutal one punch knockout of Mike Jones this past Saturday is the runaway leader for Knockout of The Year. It is hard to imagine the knockout being topped.

"I knew once he slowed down and I was able to hit him that it was about to happen. I knew I was going to knock him out," Bailey told The Boxing Lab.

Bailey was highly critical of Jones corner. He told us he couldn't believe that Jones fought aggressively after the first knock down.

"His corner is some real idiots. Instead of telling him to stay away they told him to make a statement and you saw what happened," Bailey opined.

The knockout artist has been enjoying his victory and said that he hasn't thought about who he wants to fight next. Devon Alexander has August 18th reserved on Showtime for his next fight and currently doesn't have an opponent.

Bailey said that he tried to fight Alexander when the St. Louis native was promoted by Don King but that the fight never came to fruition.  Alexander is now promoted by Golden Boy who have co-promoted shows in the past with Bailey's promoter Lou DiBella.

"I've always wanted to fight Devon Alexander. When he was with Don King I went to King's office to fight him. I've never been afraid of no Devon Alexander.  We have different promoters so it might not happen. No one goes looking to fight me," Bailey concluded.

Bailey would barely land a glove on Devon the whole fight. If he couldn't pull the trigger against Jones there is no way that he will be able to against Devon who has a lot better footwork and throws better combinations.

Alexander's uppercut vs Bailey's uppercut, somebody's getting KO'd.

Hope it happens. I'd lean towards Alexander but I wouldn't be surprised if Bailey pulled off another KO upset. WAR BAILEY!!! Ha ha
