Badou Jack vs. Dmitry Bivol Purse Bid Set For September 25

The World Boxing Association (WBA) Championships Committee notified today the teams behind Swedish-American Badou Jack, WBA 'regular' light heavyweight champion, and Russian Dmitry Bivol, who is the interim-champion of the division, that they must go to purse bids on September 25.

The WBA Championships Committee had ordered negotiations between British Nathan Cleverly, former WBA Light Heavyweight Champion, and Bivol on July 27.

However, on August 12, Cleverly was granted a special permit to face Jack on the condition that the winner would have to fight the Russian boxer. Thus, the WBA complies with its issued resolutions by calling Jack and Bivol to purse bids.

Remember that Jack earned his title after beating Celeverly by TKO on August 26, while Bivol won the Interim Championship on May 21, 2016, after defeating Felix Valera by unanimous decision and has successfully defended his belt twice.

The purse bids will be held in the WBA offices located in Panama City, Panama, on September 25, and will be directed by the Panamanian Aurelio Fuego, who is part of the WBA Directorate.

IN OTHER NEWS: The World Boxing Association (WBA) will award a special belt to the winner of the match between Gennady Glolovkin and Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, who will fight for the WBA "super" middleweight championship.

The belt keeps its elegant black-gold color. However, the silhouette of both boxers bathed in gold with the date and place of the fight was added to the sides. Thus, tribute is paid to two great boxers who will fight in one of the most important divisions in boxing.

Undoubtedly, this belt will be an unforgettable memento of a fight that seems even on paper and promises to live up to its expectations.

I was hoping for Badou vs Stevenson but this is a good match-up. Badou is not Swedish-American though.:nono:

That's right.. Cleverly was granted permission to fight Jack instead of fighting Bivol.. Bivol vs Jack should be a good learning curve for Bivol.. War Bivol!! :headbang:

A nice one to look forward to if it happens. Jack is on a run of good opponents.
