Audley Harrison hopes to use Strictly Come Dancing as a springboard to a unlikely fight with one of the Klitschko brothers.

The former Olympic heavyweight champion hasn't fought since his disastrous world heavyweight title challenge against David Haye in November 2010.

Harrison appeared to freeze on his big night and barely threw a punch as he was blasted out inside three rounds.

Now Harrison is back on TV in the hit BBC dancing show, and says he wants to get back into the boxing spotlight as well.

He told the Daily Mail: "My success on Strictly proves people still take to me if they get to see my true personality.

"I just hope the enthusiastic response I'm getting on the programme will help me get one last chance to bring out all my talent and charisma in the ring."

With Haye now retired, Harrison hopes to face on of British young guns Tyson Fury or David Price en route to a shot at one of the Klitschko brothers.

He added: "I'll take it one fight at a time, starting fairly early next year. But, if I can get a good win, I believe one of the Klitschkos will want to meet me because they have run out of genuine heavyweight rivals and can't keep fighting smaller men."

Harrison, who is now 40, claims that fans would be wrong to judge him on that damp squib against Haye.

"It was a disaster against Haye," he said. "But no, that wasn't me in that fight."
