Asis vs. Elomar is Possible For WBC Asia Continental Belt

Toowoomba based Filipino superstar Jack “The Assassin” Asis has been approved by the World Boxing Council to fight for the WBC Asia Continental super featherweight championship.

Asis, who is coming off a devastating 3rd round TKO victory over Argentina’s Jose Saez, has received confirmation from the WBC that he will be in one corner of the championship bout which will likely take place in Toowoomba in late September or early October (date to be finalized) on the fifth installment of “Smithy Brings the Big Fights”.

The search is now on for his opponent and this morning an offer has been made to Sydney’s Mohammed Elomar. Elomar, who is 19 wins (9 KO) with only one defeat as a pro and is trained by multiple world championship trainer Billy Hussein. Elomar is coming off an impressive unanimous decision win over Japanese boxer Takamori Akita.

“I have made an offer to Mohammed today and we are waiting for a response from their team which should come in the next day or two,” said Jack’s manager Brendon Smith.
“I have been speaking to Billy Hussein about a possible match up between Jack and Mohammed for the last month and its something they have shown a lot of interest in.”
“Hopefully this fight will be made, it will be great for Australian boxing.”

Did this guy fight Willie Kickett? I thought that was Ahmed Elomar. His brother maybe? Man that was a devastating KO. Willie is back.. Had a couple of fights lately. I'm hoping he can get back to where he was…
