There's been a lot of conjecture over who Floyd Mayweather will face on September 12th in his next pay-per-view outing. Amir Khan is certainly in the running and Mayweather has brought up the names of Andre Berto and Karim Mayfield.
In the immediate aftermath of his victory on Saturday night against Jessie Vargas at the StubHub Center in Carson, California - Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum believes Timothy Bradley should be in the mix.
"They want (Bradley) in Dubai to fight Sadam Ali, that's a great possibility. And listen, I think of all the guys around he'd make the best fight for Mayweather," Arum told the members of press row after the fight.
Bradley, who captured the interim WBO welterweight title (which is currently held by Mayweather till he makes up his mind on what to do with his cadre of belts) is an accomplished fighter with a deep resume' and respected throughout the industry. He has won multiple titles at 140 and 147 and has career record of 32-1-1(12 KO's). He certainly makes a strong case but the reality is that Bradley is associated with Top Rank and HBO, which might make this a non-starter.
After all, it took five long years to make a Mayweather fight versus Manny Pacquiao a reality.
Regarding this, Arum stated - "Well, Floyd's always taken the least dangerous guy and Bradley poses a great danger. So will Showtime - which has to come up with the money - let him fight someone who's not going to resonate at the box-office. That's up to him and Showtime."
