Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum says unbeaten former champion Danny Garcia (31-0, 18KOs) is not an option for Manny Pacquiao's comeback fight in early 2016.
Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach is very much in favor of his fighter taking on Garcia and calls it a "very easy" fight for the Filipino star. Roach has Garcia at the top his hit list.
Arum has other plans for his fighter.
“No, not Danny Garcia,” Arum told the Philippine Star.
Garcia has been mentioned by Roach is the past, but the Philadelphia fighter officially made his move to the welterweight ranks last month with a knockout of Paulie Malignaggi.
“I want Danny Garcia, that’s my choice. That’s the easiest fight in the f****** world, you can tell his dad (Angel Garcia) that as well,” Roach told Boxing News a month ago.
Arum is looking at three options - Amir Khan, Terence Crawford and Kell Brook.
Khan has confirmed that he is speaking with Arum to make the fight for early next year. Crawford will return in October when he makes a defense of his WBO 140-pound title against Dierry Jean, and Brook defends his IBF welterweight title against Diego Chaves, also in October.
