Top Rank promoter Bob Arum minced no words when he lashed out at those talking about a possible fight between eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao and undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Arum said “to talk about other fights is idiotic when Manny has his hands full” against Brandon Bam Bam Rios in Macau on November 23.
Arum told the BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard the Rios fight is “the order of business. It’s a very important fight for Manny and its not an easy fight.”
At the same time he said two-time former Chinese Olympic gold medalist and three-time world flyweight champion Zou Shiming, who makes his second appearance as a pro on the July 27 card, was doing well in training.
He said celebrated Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach “is very happy with Zou. Although I didn’t get to see him Freddie said he is doing extremely well and (Hall of Fame matchmaker) Bruce Trampler supports Freddie’s view.”
Arum also indicated that Zou Shiming will train along with Pacquiao most probably in General Santos City where Pacquiao plans to train for the Rios fight for two months.
