Top Rank's CEO, Bob Arum, was asked if he had signed a contract to do a certain amount of fights at the Forum in Inglewood, California. He answered in the negative.

"I don't believe in exclusive deals," he said. "Nothing would please me more if other promoters made use of this facility and put on matches that would appeal to the fans. I think that's the way I was brought up. I did so many matches at Madison Square Garden, but never on an exclusive basis."

That doesn't mean Arum is not already working on the next big card he wants to stage at the Forum. That would be a super middleweight fight between middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin and former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for July.

"We're getting close," Arum said of making that fight. "And it means a lot to Chavez to fight in this building because as a boy he remembers his father fighting here."

Tom Loeffler is general manager of K2-Promotions, the banner under which Golovkin fights. He was at Wednesday's news conference and, like Arum, he believes an accord for Chavez-Golovkin is near.

"I think so, too," Loeffler said. "I think we're getting close. The main point is that both fighters want the fight. Gennady has always said he'd fight Julio and from what Bob says, Julio wants to fight Gennady. So it's just a matter of working out the details."

The fight would be at super middleweight, meaning there would be no major belt on the line. But a fight of this magnitude would likely not need that for it to be very successful.

[QUOTE=Mayweatherducks]I just watched the GGG and Chavez Jr 5 round sparring session on YouTube so idk why this fight is being made when GGG owned Jr every round already and was taking it easy on him with head gear on. This will be a 10-2 decision in GGG's favor cause of the Mexican beard but Mar...
