Arum: Guillermo Rigondeaux Will Remain With Top Rank
By Rick Reeno
Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum has advised BoxingScene.com that WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (10-0, 8KOs) has agreed to an 18 month extension of his promotional contract.
Rigondeaux's two-year contract was set to expire after Saturday's fight with Roberto Marroquin (22-1, 15KOs).
Should he win on Saturday, the two-time Olympic gold medal winner will return in December, says Arum. The extension starts running with Rigondeaux's next fight.
As part of the extension, Rigondeaux will receive a satisfactory increase in his monetary pay per fight.
Rigondeaux-Marroquin takes place on the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.-Sergio Martinez HBO Pay-Per-View undercard.
