Santos had a great amateur career and participated in the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008. Now he steps into the limelight against the toughest oppponent of his entire career. Montiel was once regarded as one of the best in the sport. Santos believes his time has now passed.

"It's the biggest fight and I am prepared to win by any means. I am confident that I'll retire Fernando Montiel from boxing. His time has passed. He was a great world champion. Now he's in my hands and remove him I will," Santos said.

"I spent several weeks training in Guadalajara and I feel very good in all aspects. I have gained speed and endurance and I will use all of that in the ring to win overwhelmingly against an opponent of high quality."
