American heavyweight contender Mike Mollo (20-3-1, 12 KO) has confirmed that he accepted an offer to face undefeated Artur Szpilka (12-0, 9 KO) of Poland. The two will clash on February 1st in Chicago, Illinois. The bout will be scheduled for 8 or 10 rounds.
"Yes, we are fighting. It's been a long time since I have fought and I am very excited for this fight," Mollo said.
The 32-year old American is out of boxing since his draw with Gary Gomez in August of 2010. Later Mollo was inactive due to licensing issues. Szpilka’s last ring appearance took place in June in Lodz, Poland, when he scored unanimous decision win over an American veteran Jameel McCline. During that bout the Pole suffered multiple injuries which postponed his return to the ring.
