The WBO/WBA/IBO/IBF heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, said he warned British rival David Haye to avoid any discussion regarding his toe injury - because of the expected backlash from the fans and the boxing media. Klitschko won a twelve round decision over Haye in Hamburg last Saturday, and afterwards Haye took off his shoe to display a broken toe on his right foot. He said the toe injury affected his ability to throw combinations and right hand power shots.
"It's an excuse. The man was checked before by a medical commissioner. He was cleared and ready to fight. If you are in the ring, there are no excuses. It's called sore loser. And I warned David Haye, don't do that [discuss the toe]. If something happened to you, shut the hell up and don't say anything because it's going to hit right back to you. If he would have won the fight, everything would have been good. But suddenly now he's looking for excuses. Who knows what really happened with his toe? I don't really care and nobody else cares," Klitschko told Gazeta.
