India’s Vijender Singh (3-0, 3 KOs) will have his next four or five fights beamed back to his homeland on the nation's Star TV platform.
The middleweight, who signed a deal with Queensbury Promotions last summer and fights on Boxnation, will to his homeland for one bout as part of the broadcast agreement revealed by Frank Warren to Boxing Scene.
The 2008 Olympic Bronze medallist, trained by Lee Beard, has adjusted well to the professional ranks with his fan friendly attacking style and has made it three wins from three since making his debut in October. Singh will have his fourth contest on Warren’s ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ promotion, headlined by Terry Flanagan’s WBO World lightweight title defence against Derry Mathews, on February 13 at Liverpool’s Echo Arena.
Warren added that Singh's homecoming would probably take place in the second half of 2016 with Delhi in the running to stage the show.
“A couple more fights over here and then a nice homecoming with a few wins under his belt," he said. "We're looking to put it on in a cricket ground, that's what we'd like to do. He was a big name beforehand but the amount of people who have been watching him on television out there is phenomenal.”
“I'm quite pleased with him," said Warren about Singh's start to the pro ranks.
"He's adapted well. a bit like some of the Russians who've turned pro later on in their life. I've got a lot of time for him.”
After a multi-medal winning amateur career going as far back to the silver medal he netted at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, Singh will now be aiming to add professional titles to his name in the next 12 to 24 months.
