The staff at Sauerland Event continues to go all in for its big 35th anniversary show on September 26 at Max Schmelling Hall in Berlin, Germany.
Tickets are now officially on sale for the blockbuster event and available by calling (+49) 030-44304430 or online via www.tickethall.de and www.eventim.de.
Topping the bill is a super welterweight crossroads bout between Jack Culcay and unbeaten contender Dennis Hogan, whose last three fights have taken place stateside. The card will take place exactly 35 years to the day of Sauerland's first boxing event in Germany, when Chisanda Mutti knocked Uwe Meinicke in the third round of their light heavyweight bout in Cologne, Germany.
Mutti eventually moved up in weight, twice challenging for the cruiserweight championship. Sauerland Event would go on to promote a number of world champions through the years, and continues to still go strong as the leading promotional outfit in Germany.
“Boxing was a hobby that became a passion that still burns today,” Wilfried Sauerland said during the kickoff press conference to formally announce the event.
While the elder Sauerland was the driving force behind the promotional company, the day-to-day operatins are now in the capable hands of his sons, Kalle and Nisse Sauerland.
The energetic brothers continue to grind out championship-level caliber, with a staff that includes reigning champs Arthur Abraham (super middleweight), Juergen Braehmer (secondary titlist at light heavyweight) and Yoan Pablo Hernandez (lineal cruiserweight champion). Its current roster also includes top super middleweight contender George Groves, who faces Badou Jack in a super middleweight title fight on September 12 in Las Vegas.
Also among present staff are a number of talented fighters who will grace the anniversary show, inlcuding Culcay; unbeaten super middleweight Tyron Zeuge (17-0, 10KOs), who faces Eduard Gutknecht (28-3-1, 11 KOs); and the following fighters whose opponents are to be announced in the near future:
- top heavyweight contender Kubrat Pulev (20-1, 11 KOs), fighting for the first time since his failed title bid versus Wladimir Klitschko last November;
- rising light heavyweight Enrico Koelling (18-1, 6 KOs)
- super middleweight prospect Stefan Haertel (6-0)
- unbeaten heavyweight Burak Sahin (7-0, 6 KOs)
“I’m very proud of my sons Kalle and Nisse, who share this passion and are guiding the next generation of German world champions," notes the elder Sauerland.
