Edgar Sosa (49-7, 29KOs) is ready to show his sting ray mettle in the Land of The Rising Sun quest. Prior to arriving in Tokyo, Sosa sparred fourteen superb rounds in one sizzling session of camp. The first five intense rounds were against rugged Armando “Cobra” Santos. Then seven with Armando Torres and a couple of crackers with Hector Villa to top it off. Sosa, who's on a seek and conquer mission, is scheduled to face current WBC flyweight champion, Akira Yaegashi (18-3, 9KOs) on December 6th in Tokyo.
Sosa stressed that he's prepared meticulously and is definitely in the best shape of his career, thanks to the great work of his trainer Toño Jimenez.
“It’s my time to face a Japanese champion, in Japan, and to return triumphant with the world title. I feel absolutely great, with speed coordination and punching power. I have been working hard to improve my counter-punching. This was an incredibly tough preparation but invlaluable, because it will help me in this crucial fight. Now in Japan I'm tapering down to light training and taking care of my weight,” Sosa said.
Trainer Jimenez said - "Edgar is in marvellous physical shape. He was still breathing normally after sparring fourteen rounds. Edgar is fast, Edgar is 100 percent motivated and Edgar is so ready to accomplish this challenge.”
