Sergio Martinez (49-2-2, 28KOs) is focused on securing a knockout victory when he faces unbeaten WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-0-1, 32KOs) on September 15th at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Martinez calls this contest the most important of his entire career. Chavez Jr. is a rising superstar in the sport and Martinez doesn't want to take any unecessary risks, such as allowing the judges to decide the outcome.
He plans to dictate the fight with a similar strategy that is similar to the one he used against Kelly Pavlik. The victory over Pavlik was a turning point in Martinez's career. He wants to put on a show for the fans in attendance and the viewing audience on HBO pay-per-view.
"My physical and mental response [in training camp] is the best of my entire career. I plan to win this fight without the need of the [score] cards, that's for sure. I'm going to use similar tactics [that were used] in the fight with Pavlik," Martinez said
