Sammy Vasquez is on the brink of becoming a legitimate welterweight contender after a 2014 that saw him notch six victories and perform on several nationally televised cards. 'the Who Can Mexican' currently has a mark of 17-0 (13 KO's) and his ready to embark on his 2015 campaign.
"(Vasquez) is going to be the main event on ShoBox on February 20th," said matchmaker Chris Middendorf, who is working on this card with Goossen Promotions. This show will be staged in Pittsburgh. Middendorf told BoxingScene.com that a contract has been sent out to Emanuel Lartey to be Vasquez's opponent.
"The co-feature is going to be Humberto Savigne," stated Middendorf. "additional fighters will be Argenis Mendez, Claudio Marrero, Felix Diaz and five or six other guys."
These fighters were once under the Iron Mike Productions banner, but the word around the industry is that Gary Jonas (who funded the company) and Mike Tyson are parting ways. All Middendorf would say is - "I think we're in the process of an amicable divorce and the lawyers are just working out the details."
