BoxingScene.com has been advised that undefeated welterweight contender Sammy "The Who Can Mexican" Vasquez Jr. (17-0, 13KOs) has inked an agreement with powerful manager/adviser Al Haymon.
Vasquez is scheduled to return on February 20th in a ShoBox headliner on Showtime. He faces Emmanuel Lartey (16-2-1, 7KOs) on the card.
In his last fight, Vasquez crushed Alberto Mosquera in a single round to capture the vacant WBC FECARBOX welterweight title.
Vasquez, 28-years-old and a pro since 2012, is a promotional free agent. He served eight years with the U.S. Army National Guard and had two tours of duty in Iraq.
After signing an army of fighters in 2014, Haymon is almost averaging a new fighter acquisition per day in 2015. Many of the fighters he signed in the last two years are going be used as part of his 'Premier Boxing Champions' series on NBC, NBC Sports and Spike TV. Haymon, who works with over 150 fighters, is also going to secure dates for a good portion of his stable on Showtime.
