The two-time former world champion Orlano “Siri” Salido is getting a lot of support and encouragement from Puerto Rican fans after his draw this past Saturday night with Rocky Martinez in Las Vegas.
“My Facebook page and my phone has just been nonstop from Puerto Rican fans since the fight on Saturday. They feel like I did that I won the fight,”, said Salido after getting home last Sunday night.
Salido has a big following in the Island because of his action fights against Juan Manuel Lopez and now his second bout with Martinez, without a doubt the fight of the night at the MGM Grand on Saturday.
“They know I always give my best and I try to give them an exciting fight. Puerto Rican fans and media know their boxing and they know who won the fight on Saturday night.”
It’s not only the fans and media in Puerto Rico who felt the Salido did enough to win the fight some of the most notable boxing writers in the United States and the International media also had the tough Mexican beating Martinez.
Steve Farhood (Showtime) 116-112; Kevin Iole (Yahoo Sports) 115-113; Dan Rafael (ESPN) 116-112; Eduardo Lamazon (TV Azteca) 117-111; Damian Ferrer ( La Esquina Neutral ) 115-113; Steve Kim (Boxing Scene) 116-112; Bernardo Osuna (ESPN); Frankie Piñero ( El Caballero Del Boxeo ) 115-113; Marcelo González (Space) 115-113.
It was a typical Salido fight, slow at the start, picking up steam in the middle rounds and was just plain relentless for the rest of the fight. He dominated the fight for the most part with his usual pressure and non-stop punches.
“I have been doing this for a long time and it’s never been easy. I had to earn everything and I don’t ask for any favors, but Saturday night I was again robbed by the house fighter and it just not right. I all I ask is for a fair shake. I won on Saturday night and everyone knows it,” said Salido.
There is hope for a third fight and if there is Salido will be ready to get in the ring and give the fans another great fight, all he hopes for it the judges give it their all as well.
