In Pilsen (Czech Republic) yesterday, German heavyweight Tom Schwarz (16-0) had it easy against beefed up Georgian cruiser Gorgita Gorgiladze (billed as 28-11) and floored him twice and won on a first round knockout in what was a defence of the WBO Youth title. Gorgiladze have a as a cruiser gone the distance with the likes of Micki Nielsen and Noel Gevor but fighting a big heavyweight like Schwarz is a different thing.
On the same show Czech super welterweight Stepan Horvath (16-5) won the vacant WBO Euro title by beating German-based Italian Davide Doria (13-2-1).
Former WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz, 49-5-1 and now campaigning as a light heavyweight, stopped Argentinian Ricardo Marcelo Ramallo (20-9-1) late in the fifth of a scheduled eight rounder. Stieglitz dominated the action and hurt his opponent with bodyshots and the towel came in with Ramallo complaining of a headbutt but it was a left hook downstairs that did the damage.
