Former world lightweight champion Brandon "Bam Bam" Rios promised another war when he takes on Mike "Mile High" Alvarado for the second time on March 30 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
"I do not think this fight will be very different from the first. We both throw a lot of punches and we're two warriors who don't take a step back and look to knock our opponent out at all times," Rios said at the Fortune Gym in California.
Rios (31-0, 22 KOs) of Oxnard, California, and Alvarado (33-1, 23 knockout) of Denver, Colorado, staged a big fight last October at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. Rios won by way of a seventh round TKO.
"I know I can improve and keep Alvarado kept at a distance, but that won't last for long and I'll do the same thing [as the first fight]: throw power punches and look to finish fast," said Rios.
Rios is preparing in Oxnard under the tutelage of his trainer, Robert Garcia, who was recognized as the best coach of 2012.
"We talked about moving my head more and showing a better defense, but in the end it's my aggressiveness and my heart that brought me here and I will not change anything. I beat him once and I'll do it again," said Rios.
The match will be for the world title of the WBO welterweight interim and pass on HBO "Boxing After Dark".
