WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (25-0, 21KOs) is a huge favorite when he defends his title against Welsh boxer Gavin Rees (37-1-1, 18 KOs) on February 16th at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
Rees, a former junior welterweight champion, moved down to 135 in 2010. The odds have not stopped Rees from dreaming big. He vows a huge upset will take place on American soil.
“I’m looking forward to causing a massive upset. I want to thank him for keeping the belt warm. After I knock him out, I’ll brush his hair for him if he wants. As soon as they said his name, I said I didn’t want to discuss money. Just get me the fight. It’s a massive opportunity for me," Rees said.
The fight will be televised by HBO as part of a doubleheader. The co-feature is a heavyweight rematch between Seth Mitchell and Johnathan Banks.
